Heart update:
When I last wrote, we were getting things checked out with the cardiologist. We did a number of tests, and everything appears to be fine and dandy. There was a small amount of leakage- something like the valve not closing all the way. But my doctor, Dr. Joe, assured me that it was not "clinically significant," so we have nothing to worry about. As for the heart palpitations, I have seen great improvement since going to the doctor. I am not sure why they were so intense for those two or three weeks, but they have pretty much stopped being a problem. The Lord is good! God has blessed me with a chiropractor whose adjustments actually do apparently improve many of my pains in pregnancy (including, I am pretty sure, the heart palpitations). I never used to "believe in chiropractors," but this experience has definitely changed my mind. Ultimately, though, I have to praise God that the heart symptoms have all but disappeared, and all is going well with our precious baby boy.
This week's visit:
I returned to my regular OB yesterday. Everything seems fine. I had gained a little more weight than I would have liked, but I can honestly say that I haven't been going crazy "eating for two," so I'm trying not to stress about it. And it must not have been too big a deal, since Dr. Joe didn't mention anything about it.
I took the glucose test, which checks for gestational diabetes. I passed the test, but I was very close to not passing, so Dr. Joe wanted to do one more test to make sure. Thankfully, he didn't order the test that takes three hours-- just a little more blood before I left the office yesterday. (By the way, I do NOT like giving away my blood. It scares me every time! I am such a baby!) Anyway, you can be praying that the test will come back with good results on Friday. I would be disappointed to have gestational diabetes, but I know that it is manageable.
Baby names:
Everyone always asks if we've decided on a name. Decided? No. But we've been batting one name around in particular. We both like the name Holman. Feel free to share your thoughts on it. I like it because it is different but not totally crazy sounding. I would love for him to have something that is somewhat unique to go along with our awesome last name. I actually LOVE having the last name Smith, truly, I do. For starters, I am proud of it because it tells the world that I am my awesome man's bride! Plus, it is so simple, I never have to spell it for people, it is cute sounding with Sarah. But I would like to give our kids something kind of unique. So that's our current thought. Throwing it out there. What do you think?
Random mommy thoughts:
I love feeling him kick inside of me. He's been very active today, and I love it. In fact, I had a journal resting on my tummy, and he kicked so hard, it actually moved the book. Occasionally, I have to stop and remember the absolute wonder and miracle of it all. It is just so hard to believe that there is a little human growing inside of me. Even though pregnancy has not been easy (I understand that it isn't easy for most women!), I know that it is worth it. God has a perfect plan for this baby, and He has a perfect plan even now in my pregnancy. I love knowing that His plan is unfolding, that He cannot be thwarted, and that He will use all of this for His glory.
Now I just can't wait for our baby boy to be here. There are a lot of preparations to make, so I guess I can wait in that regard... but truly, Ryan and I both anxiously look forward to our son making his grand entrance. Our son. What blissful words. I am sure he will be here before we know it.
Please keep in touch! We want to hear from you!
Love,
Sarah, Ryan, and baby boy!

Be thankful that you didn't have to do the 3 hour test! I had to do it with 2 of mine, and it was awful. They will probably watch you closely anyway in that regard since your first test was a wee bit on the close side.
I was like you--I had never been to a chiropractor before I was pregnant with my 3rd, but oh.my.gosh., what a difference that made! My current chiro calls me an addict. :) I told him I just know how it feels for my spine to be right, and I can't stand it being any other way!
Glad to hear everything else is going well with the pregnancy. Only 15 more weeks!! :) Hang in there, you can do it!
this all sounds so exciting! i like the name Holman. My sister picked two cute names for two of her boys, then said she wanted to name another one "george." Blah.(well, I guess some people like it, but it's not my favorite). maybe she could get some inspiration from you...Holman is cute! i'm glad your pregnancy is being filled with so much positive excitement!
